escape the Pakistani Army, which since late March has been trying to crush
the movement for autonomy, and later independence, in East Pakistan. |

to anyone who has followed the recent events in Pakistan that Gen. Yahya
Khan's pledge for "an orderly transfer" of power (news story May
25) is nothing but a ploy to attract foreign economic assistance which he
desperately needs to be able to continue his war of suppression against
the Bengalis. |
